Boys' underachievement and the feminization of teaching

The chronification of school failure in Spain is an unquestionable fact. In addition, when the root of this school failure is analyzed, one of the conclusions is that in the abandonment of the studies and the low qualification in the evaluations the boys acquire a special protagonism.

So much so that, for example, the male repeaters in ESO break records: a gender gap of which barely speaks. This male negative asymmetry in the Spanish education system even affects low maternity.

Now, a new study by the OECD, which analyzes, among other issues, the "gender imbalance in the teaching profession" concludes that the "feminization of teaching can negatively impact boys because of the lack of male references in the teaching staff. "

The OECD report, Education at a Glance. OECD Indicators (Panorama of Education, OECD Indicators), addresses the scarce presence of men in the fields of health and, above all, in the field of education.

Based on this original study, the report 'Panorama de la Educación: Indicadores de la OECD 2017. Informe español' is produced in Spain, which analyzes the evolution of the different education systems, their financing and the impact of training in the market of work and in the economy.
