Educating and Managing Boys

This workshop will deal with teaching, motivating, and managing boys in schools and examines the issues affecting boys' educational outcomes. Ian will outline the challenges facing educators and parents over the last twenty years in educating and raising boys.
Classroom strategies will be dealt with - specifically behaviour management, homework, literacy, group work and the use of visuals. A number of policies and practices from around the world will be critically analysed and some of Ian's 52 recommendations will be expanded and analysed in terms of application to schools, homes and society generally. Strategic treatment of bullying and a complete analysis of classroom and schoolyard functionality are a highlight of this workshop.

Boys with Particular Needs

This workshop will explore teaching, motivating and managing boys with particular needs in schools, at home and in specialist centres. There will be an emphasis on Autism and ADHD but other needs including CAPD, ODD, grief and family dysfunction will be covered.
Ian will discuss the role of medication, diet, exercise and many other techniques in the management and treatment of these boys. The aim of this workshop is to give all professionals and parents who deal with boys from birth to age 25, a fuller understanding of these special children and the tools to help them achieve their maximum potential.
