IBSC 19th Annual Conference [9-12 July, 2012] [Melbourne]

IBSC 19th Annual Conference

The 19th annual conference will take place at Scotch College, Melbourne, Australia, 9-12 July, 2012. Along with IBSC schools in Melbourne and throughout Australia, Scotch College looks forward to welcoming everyone!

The conference takes inspiration from its overarching theme, Unearthing Creativity, and especially from the creative spirit of boys in our schools. Boys are many things, but they are surely the creative makers of their lives. They like to create and to make things happen: create music, poetry and art; create games and sports; engage creatively with technology; create humour; create friendships and relationships; create trust and belonging; create lives of significance for themselves.

So inspired, Unearthing Creativity is a call to boys’ schools to examine all that they do with the same creative energy — whether to revitalize the enduring foundations of what we do well for boys, or to chart the frontiers of 21st century learning. Following no narrow definition, “Unearthing Creativity” is broad and holistic in approach, and mines four themes: “Boys as Creative Learners and Makers”; “The Teacher as Creative Teacher”; “Looking Creatively at Our Curriculum”; and “Creative Communities in Schools for Boys”.

Gather with us in Melbourne as we hear from engaging speakers, participate in workshops given by educators from around the world, and enjoy the good fellowship and stimulating conversation that are hallmarks of the IBSC annual — and truly global — conference.
