Inteligencia de género para la escuela. Paradojas de la coeducación

Jaume Camps I Bansell, Professor of Sociology and Social Psychology at the Faculty of Education in Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, has just published Inteligencia de género para la escuela. Las paradojas de la coeducación (2015), Editorial Círculo Rojo. ISBN 978-84-9115-223-1.

In this study, the author wonders about the importance of gender issues in education, why some schools separate children, or whether the mixed school has solved gender discrimination. The gender variable is viewed from different angles, focusing in a special way in the two main organizational forms: coeducation and single-sex school. After a brief historical account of the evolution of the school,  professor Jaume Camps analyzes the paradoxes of mixed schooling from the criticism women and men who once were committed to this modality have made. Later he delves into the socializing and educational significance of coeducational schools and different situations, from a Psychosocial perspective. Finally, it provides the views of students who have lived both models, the result of many personal interviews with them.
